It had been several days now and the panic had stopped being so sharp. Now it was more of a dull "Oh, this is not good." repetition that she had gotten used to. At what point that had changed was difficult to locate in the seething mass of this city. It was possible she'd just woken up used to the panic this morning. Or maybe yesterday. Either way, she couldn't find a quick fix to her inability to contact anyone. Apparently the whole of Sunnydale had collapsed into the ground, and she seemed to be missing several years of memory, which was as much as she'd been able to find out.
So now she wasn't sure who had survived, or if anyone had, or why she was currently sitting in an alley in NYC covered in cardboard. What she really needed was to find a number for the Watcher's Council because they'd probably know what had happened. And whether she'd been kidnapped by demons for several years which, oh hello sharp painful panic, was kinda a terrifying prospect. She'd head for the library again. At least that was becoming familiar now with all the time she'd spent in there the last couple of days trying to work out what was going on with their meagre supplies. If only she had Giles' supply of occult books, she might even have been able to find some kind of spell that would bring her up to date. Instead, she was waiting back on an email she'd sent out to some of Jenny's old coven. Willow hoped that they even remembered who she was.
First things first though, she should change. Through some amount of good fortune, she somehow had a bag with a few different clothes in. They didn't look exactly like the clothes she was used to wearing, but they were alright, and way better than the alternative of wearing the same clothes day after day and looking like she was actually homeless. Though, how that made her situation different she didn't know. The fact that she had a change of clothes changed nothing about the fact that she was sleeping on the streets of New York. This situation could totally not get worse. |
